I'M DOING A GIVEAWAY!
i'm doing my first giveaway! i'm so excited about how these potholders came out that i am going to give a pair to 2 people...that's each person will win a pair. to enter the giveaway just leave me a comment and the winners will be chosen by the random number generator. i will choose the winners on sunday, june 28 at 8 am (pst).
so a little about the potholders...they are made from the following materials: recycled denim, recycled buttons, recycled wool sweater as the filling, and the stripey fabric, which i got from my mom (who knows how long she has had it) is from p. kaufmann, inc. you can enter more than once but you must post a comment elsewhere about my giveaway and then let me know to be entered more than once (your blog, myspace, facebook, etc would count as three entries, but you would need to let me know in three separate comments to make it fair.)
good luck and i can't wait to read your comments!

my work environment #1
i know how hard it is to work and live in an area like this but... someone has to do it. these are sites and spots i drive by everyday on my way to work at Redcrest Resort.
eel river at usual location of shively summer bridge(however since the sale of the timber co that normally puts in the bridge has decided the residents of shively have to pay to have the bridge put in, it looks like the summer bridge may be a thing of the past. so sad)
this is a reminder to myself to stay away from the poison oak... i will probably have at least one breakout before the summer is over
(technically they aren't "my" blackberries but i have been picking them here every year since i became an adult...long enough to call them mine)
three grads +1 in one year!
we had three graduating high school seniors this year! can you believe it? when did these guys get so grown up? anyway, following are pictures of our three kids: Ben, Amy, and Callie. the +1 is callie's bf, sam. biologically speaking, callie is mine and obviously ben and amy are ken's but they are all ours and all smart and gorgeous to boot!

sooo....
i've been gone a while... so much going on and just haven't felt like posting... ugh! anyway i have about a million projects on my to do list and it seems i'm not getting anyof them done! i hate that...i want to but...on top of which i'm coming down with some nasty cold bug or something. this should not be happening when the weather is warming up and i want to be outside. and....just a little rant..why do people that have no real inkling of who you are as a person and have enough problems of their own feel qualified to make judgements about your life? i mean seriously! i was called a hoarder today and not by my husband, family member or even a close friend. by someone who i have probably spent a total of about 30 minutes in conversation with (if that much!) spread over a 6 month period of time. this person does not know me or my strengths much less my weaknesses. and while i have and continue to regularly kid about starting a junk/stuff collector's anonymous group i don't feel this person is qualified to make such a serious accusation. OK... maybe i'm so touchy about this because i do feel like my stuff is sort of overtaking my life... BUT that is for me to decide not a relative stranger! and i don't wanna fix my problem. i have gotten rid of so much in the last two years that i barely recognize myself. i went through a divorce and got rid of many things and i finally feel like i am being my true self, my creative self, my artsy self that i am supposed to be. anyway i guess i feel a little better now that i got that off my chest! so hopefully i will get some projects done soon and be able to post about them. i definitely have some pictures to post that show the wonderful place i work and i want to show you how i know it's truly summertime out there. see ya soon!

the pledge
I, cindi rose, pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 6 months. I pledge that i shall refashion, renovate, recycle preloved items for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract. I pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovoted, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that thy thriftiness brings! Signed, cindi aka tally's oma.
prettied-up receiving blanket
this is a receiving blanket i just dolled up for my new lil bean, natalia. i took a striped receiving blanket, some ivory flannel salvaged from a torn bed sheet and some fabric from my stash. cut some hearts from the fabric, zigzagged them to the ivory flannel and sewed the two pieces together. finally, i cut the edges to the stitching to give a little fringed look.

R is for Rose
I just got this craft letter "R" at Ruth's Room the other day and decided I had to have it since we are the Roses. I've been wanting to do a monogram thing in our house for a while now. I think this is a great start. I got the stickers at the really cheap store in Redwood Village. They are the kind of stickers that are those removeable wall art thingys. What do ya think? I love it!

I QUIT!
YEEEHAAAA! i just quit my job at Safeway...no more late nights and juvenile antics with the few who work there and refuse to grow up. I will be starting a new job on monday as a housekeeper for a small camping/cabin resort nestled in the redwoods. I can't wait to be off work everyday by 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Ahhh the relief of enjoying the summer even if i am working. Not being cooped up in an air conditioned building with false lighting. I will miss most of my co workers and many of the customers, but not the stress and certainly not the uniform... hahaha i will get to wear my own clothes and i can even wear summer clothes. yipppeee. will keep you posted on the continuing thrill of a new job. also i will be posting some of my completed projects within the next week.
