Like Jeremiah....and Paul

UNCOMPROMISINGLY RIGHTEOUS and rigidly just are You, O Lord, when I complain against and contend with You. Yet let me plead and reason the case with You: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all they at ease and thriving who deal very treacherously and deceitfully?

Just about an hour ago, this was my cry to the LORD.  This is the nice version, the respectful version, the not at the top of my lungs version.  Let me be clear, I am not perfect and what happened was justified as I was in the wrong.  And yet, I still cried out to the Lord because it seems that the truly wicked go about their lives with ease, they thrive no matter where there "riches" come from.  Why?  I know that in the end, on the Day of Judgement, they will answer for their wicked ways and pay with their souls and be banished to eternal death. But why, oh why must the good, those trying to live right be punished for even the smallest wrong?  I was pulled over tonight and had my car towed because of expired registration.  I had previously been pulled over by the same officer and he let me go.  I can give you all the reasons, but they are unimportant, I was wrong.  I have no hope of getting my car back.  But I am upset because I live in a town that is rampant with drug houses, abandoned junk cars and all sorts of illegal activity.  I live next door to a "drug store."  I have counted as many as 20 cars in 1 hour pull up, someone runs inside, and less than 2 minutes later they are gone.  The police know this is a drug house, the landlord knows this is a drug house, the probation officers of the residents know this is a drug house.  What is done?  Nothing.  This is why I am angry. Yes I was wrong, I have no excuses.  But why, oh why, are they allowed to prosper?  Why are they allowed to "get away" with it when people who are breaking  minor laws seem to be the only ones who continuously receive tickets, etc?

But like Paul in his letter to the Galatians, we must remember that GOD is in control and that we will receive what is rightly ours...
"And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint."
Galatians 6:9 (Amplified Bible)

UPDATE: 10:15 pm 1/16/2010
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine..."
Ephesians 3: 20 (NIV)
Three police officers just left my neighbor's apartment (referenced above) after doing an hour long search of the place.  He was in the back seat of the police cruiser when they left.  While I do not rejoice in other's troubles, I rejoice in knowing that GOD hears my cries and answers them according to his will and unmatchless wisdom.  To GOD be the glory!
